Steve Ballmer Short biography
Steven Anthony Ballmer, born March 24, 1956, is an American billionaire businessman, investor, and philanthropist who served as the chief executive officer (CEO) of Microsoft from 2000 to 2014. He is also the owner of the Los Angeles Clippers of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Ballmer grew up in Detroit, Michigan, and attended Harvard University, where he was a roommate of Bill Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft. After graduating from Harvard, Ballmer worked as a product manager at Procter & Gamble before joining Microsoft in 1980. He quickly rose through the ranks of the company and became CEO in 2000.
Under Ballmer's leadership, Microsoft expanded its dominance in the personal computer (PC) market and launched several successful new products, including the Xbox gaming console. However, the company also faced increasing competition from other tech giants, such as Apple and Google. Ballmer stepped down as CEO in 2014 and was replaced by Satya Nadella.
Since leaving Microsoft, Ballmer has focused on his investments and philanthropy. He is the owner of the Los Angeles Clippers and has donated billions of dollars to education and other causes.
