Max Verstappen Short biography
Born in Hasselt, Belgium in 1997, Verstappen comes from a racing family. His father, Jos, was a Formula One driver, and his mother, Sophie Kumpen, was a karting champion. Unsurprisingly, Verstappen began karting at a young age, demonstrating natural talent and a passion for the sport.
Verstappen's parents separated when he was young, and he primarily lived with his father, who played a crucial role in his development as a driver. His younger sister, Victoria, lived with their mother. Verstappen also has three younger half-siblings from his father's second marriage.
While dedicated to his racing career, Verstappen did not neglect his education. He attended a boarding school in England and later studied international relations at a college in New York City. However, his passion for racing ultimately took precedence, and he left college to pursue his Formula One dreams.
In 2020, Verstappen began dating Kelly Piquet, daughter of three-time Formula One champion Nelson Piquet. The couple welcomed their first child, a daughter, in 2022.
Outside of racing, Verstappen enjoys playing football (soccer), spending time with his family and friends, and traveling. He is also passionate about flying and has a private jet.
