Kevin De Bruyne Short biography
Kevin De Bruyne is a Belgian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for and captains both Premier League club Manchester City and the Belgium national team. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest players of his generation, as well as one of the best midfielders in the world. Pundits have described him as a complete footballer.
De Bruyne was born in Drongen, Belgium, on 28 June 1991. He began playing football at the age of four and joined the KVV Drongen youth academy at the age of seven. He moved to the youth academy of KRC Genk at the age of 12 and made his professional debut for the club in 2009.
De Bruyne moved to English club Chelsea in 2012, but he struggled to make his mark at the club and was loaned to Werder Bremen in 2013. He impressed during his time at Bremen and returned to Chelsea in 2014. However, he was still unable to break into the Chelsea team and was sold to Wolfsburg in 2015.
De Bruyne spent one season at Wolfsburg before joining Manchester City in 2015. He has since become one of the most important players in City's history.
De Bruyne has also been a key player for the Belgium national team. He made his debut for the team in 2010 and has since gone on to make over 90 appearances. He was part of the Belgium squad that reached the semi-finals of the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the quarter-finals of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He was also named the Player of the Tournament at the 2016 UEFA European Championship.
