Anthony Quinn Short biography
Anthony Quinn was a Mexican-American actor, painter, writer, director, and producer. He was born in Chihuahua, Mexico, on April 21, 1915, and died in Boston, Massachusetts, on June 3, 2001. Quinn's acting career spanned over six decades, and he appeared in more than 160 films. He is best known for his roles in Viva Zapata! (1952), Lust for Life (1956), The Guns of Navarone (1961), Lawrence of Arabia (1962), Zorba the Greek (1964), and The Message (1976). Quinn won two Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor, for his roles in Viva Zapata! and Lust for Life. He also received two Golden Globe Awards for Best Actor, for his roles in Zorba the Greek and The Secret of Santa Vittoria (1969).
In addition to his acting career, Quinn was also a successful painter and writer. His paintings have been exhibited in galleries around the world, and he published two memoirs, The Original Sin (1972) and One Man Tango (1997).
