Stephen Chow Short biography
Stephen Chow Sing-chi (born 22 June 1962) is a Hong Kong filmmaker, producer, writer, and former actor. He is best known for his work in the comedy genre, and is considered one of the most successful filmmakers in Hong Kong cinema history.
Chow began his career as an extra in the 1980s, and gradually rose to fame through his roles in films such as Final Justice (1988) and The Final Combat (1989). In the 1990s, he began directing his own films, including Fight Back to School (1991), King of Comedy (1999), and Shaolin Soccer (2001). These films were huge commercial successes, and helped to establish Chow as a major force in Hong Kong cinema.
In recent years, Chow has focused on directing and producing films, and has had continued success with films such as Kung Fu Hustle (2004), CJ7 (2008), and Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons (2013). He has also served as a political advisor to the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference since 2013.
