Wilson Kipsang Short biography
Wilson Kipsang Kiprotich (born 15 March 1985) is a Kenyan professional long-distance runner who competes in marathon races. He is a former world record holder in the marathon, with a time of 2:03:23, set at the 2013 Berlin Marathon. He also holds the course records for the London Marathon, the Chicago Marathon, and the Frankfurt Marathon.
Kipsang was born in Kapsabet, Kenya. He began his running career in 2007 and quickly rose to prominence in the marathon. He won the Eindhoven Marathon in 2010, and the Rotterdam Marathon in 2011. 2012 he finished second in the London Marathon and won the Chicago Marathon. In 2013, he won the London Marathon and set a new world record in the marathon at the Berlin Marathon.
Kipsang is one of the most successful marathon runners of all time. He has won 12 of the 26 marathons he has competed in, including four World Marathon Majors. He is also a two-time Olympic medalist, winning a bronze medal in the marathon at the 2012 London Olympics and a silver medal in the marathon at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
