Mark Zuckerberg Short biography
Mark Elliot Zuckerberg was born on May 14, 1984, in White Plains, New York to parents Edward Zuckerberg and Karen Kempner. He grew up in a well-educated family, with his father being a dentist and his mother a psychiatrist. Mark and his three sisters were raised in a Reform Jewish household in Dobbs Ferry, New York.
Zuckerberg showed an early aptitude for computers. He learned the BASIC programming language at a young age and even created his instant messaging program called "Zucknet" at just 12 years old. He attended Phillips Exeter Academy, a prestigious boarding school in New Hampshire, where he further excelled in computer science and mathematics.
In 2002, Zuckerberg enrolled at Harvard University, where he initially studied psychology and computer science. While there, he developed a reputation as a brilliant programmer and a hacker. In 2003, he created Facemash, a website that allowed users to compare the attractiveness of other students. This site was later shut down by the university, but it foreshadowed Zuckerberg's future success.
In February 2004, Zuckerberg launched Facebook from his dorm room at Harvard. The site became an instant hit, and its popularity quickly spread beyond the university campus. By the end of the year, Facebook had over 1 million users.
