Adam Richard Sandler (born September 9, 1966) is an American comedian, actor, screenwriter, film producer, and singer. Sandler was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, to Judith "Judy" (née Levine), a nursery school teacher, and Stanley Sandler, an electrical engineer. He is the youngest of four siblings. Sandler attended New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where he majored in film and television production.
Sandler began his comedy career performing stand-up in New York City nightclubs. He was discovered by comedian Dennis Miller in 1990, who invited him to perform on "Saturday Night Live." Sandler joined the cast of "SNL" in 1991, and he quickly became one of the show's most popular performers. He left "SNL" in 1995 to pursue a film career.
Sandler has starred in over 50 films, many of which he has written and produced. He has also released five studio albums and one compilation album. Sandler is one of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood, and he has a net worth of over US$440 million as of March 2024.
