Alice Walton Short biography
Alice Walton, born on October 7, 1949, is an American heiress, businesswoman, and art collector. Holding the title of the richest woman in the United States, her life story is interwoven with the extraordinary success of Walmart, the retail giant founded by her father, Sam Walton.
Alice was the youngest child and only daughter of Sam and Helen Walton. Raised in Bentonville, Arkansas, she attended public schools and graduated from Bentonville High School in 1966. She then pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and finance from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.
Following her graduation, Alice briefly worked as a buyer for Walmart's children's clothing department. This experience proved to be a short detour, as her entrepreneurial spirit led her to pursue other ventures. She ventured into the world of finance, working as an equity analyst and money manager for First Commerce Corporation. Later, she managed investment activities at Arvest Bank Group, demonstrating her aptitude for financial matters.
Walton is also a passionate art collector. She is the chairwoman of the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas. The museum houses a collection of American art from the colonial period to the present.
