Maria Yuryevna Sharapova is a Russian former professional tennis player. She was ranked world No. 1 in singles by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) for 21 weeks, and was ranked among the top 10 for 11 consecutive years. Sharapova is one of 10 women to achieve the career Grand Slam in singles. She also won the WTA Tour Championships in 2004. She retired in 2020 after a successful career that spanned nearly two decades.
