Mike Trout is an American professional baseball player who is widely regarded as one of the best baseball players of all time. He plays center field for the Los Angeles Angels in Major League Baseball (MLB). Trout has won three American League (AL) Most Valuable Player (MVP) Awards, three Silver Slugger Awards, and nine All-Star Game selections.
Trout was born in Vineland, New Jersey. He played baseball and basketball at Millville Senior High School. Trout was drafted by the Angels in the first round of the 2009 MLB draft. He made his MLB debut in 2011 and won the AL Rookie of the Year Award unanimously. Trout has led the AL in runs, times on base, and stolen bases multiple times.
In 2019, Trout signed a 12-year, $426 million contract with the Angels, the richest contract in MLB history at the time. He has been praised for his athleticism and all-around skills, and is often compared to Hall of Famers Ted Williams and Mickey Mantle.
