Morgan Freeman (born June 1, 1937) is an American actor, director, and narrator. He has a long and distinguished career spanning over six decades, during which he has garnered international acclaim for his commanding presence, deep voice, and impactful performances. Throughout his career, Freeman has played a diverse range of characters, from wise mentors and powerful leaders to complex and conflicted individuals. He is considered one of the most respected and influential actors of his generation.
Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Freeman developed an interest in acting at a young age. He participated in school plays and studied drama at Los Angeles City College. After serving in the United States Air Force, Freeman pursued his acting career in earnest, appearing in stage productions off-Broadway and in New York City. His big break came in the early 1970s with a recurring role on the soap opera “Another World.”
