Taraji Penda Henson (born September 11, 1970) is an American actress, singer, and producer. She has received numerous accolades, including a Golden Globe Award, a Critics' Choice Television Award, and two NAACP Image Awards. Henson is best known for her roles as Cookie Lyon in the Fox drama series Empire (2015-2020), Katherine Johnson in the biographical drama film Hidden Figures (2016), and Queenie in the fantasy drama film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008), for which she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She has also appeared in films such as Baby Boy (2001), Hustle & Flow (2005), I Can Do Bad All By Myself (2009), Think Like a Man (2012), Think Like a Man Too (2014), Proud Mary (2018), Tyler Perry's Acrimony (2018), What Men Want (2019), and The Best of Enemies (2019).
