Stefan Persson Short biography
Stefan Persson is a Swedish business magnate, chairman, major shareholder, and the richest person in Sweden. He is the former chairman and principal shareholder of the fashion company H&M, which was founded by his father Erling Persson in 1947. Persson took over the company from his father in 1982 and served as its CEO until 1998. Under his leadership, H&M grew to become one of the largest and most successful fashion retailers in the world.
Persson is also a major investor in other businesses, including the technology company Hexagon AB and the real estate company Ramsbury Invest. He is known for his philanthropic work, particularly in the areas of youth substance abuse prevention and environmental sustainability.
