Bob Iger Short biography
Robert Allen Iger (born February 10, 1951) is an American media business executive who is the chief executive officer (CEO) of The Walt Disney Company. He previously served as the President of the American Broadcasting Company (ABC) between 1994 and 1995 and as president and chief operating officer (COO) of Capital Cities/ABC, from 1995 until its acquisition by Disney in 1996. Iger was named president of Disney in 2000 and succeeded Michael Eisner as CEO in 2005. He served in this role until 2020 when he became executive chairman. Iger retired from Disney in 2021 but returned as CEO in 2022 following the ousting of his successor, Bob Chapek.
During his tenure as CEO, Iger oversaw a period of significant growth and success for Disney, including the acquisitions of Pixar, Marvel Entertainment, Lucasfilm, and 21st Century Fox. He also expanded the company's theme park resorts and launched the Disney+ streaming service.
