Dame Helen Mirren, DBE (born Helen Lydia Mironoff; 26 July 1945) is a British actress and producer. She is one of the most acclaimed and decorated actresses in the world, having won an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award, a Tony Award, a Laurence Olivier Award, four Primetime Emmy Awards, and three British Academy Television Awards. She is the only performer to have achieved both the American and the British Triple Crowns of Acting.
Mirren was born in Hammersmith, London, to an English mother and a Russian father. She began her acting career in the early 1960s with the National Youth Theatre and later joined the Royal Shakespeare Company. In 1970, she made her film debut in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Mirren is a vocal advocate for women's rights and equality. She is also a patron of the Helen Mirren and Liam Neeson Foundation, which supports young actors and actresses.
