Marina Abramović Short biography
Marina Abramović (born November 30, 1946) is a Serbian performance artist. Her work explores the relationship between the performer and the audience, the limits of the body, and the possibilities of the mind. Abramović is considered one of the pioneers of performance art and has been influential in the development of the genre.
Abramović was born in Belgrade, Serbia, and studied art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade and the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. She began her career as a performance artist in the early 1970s, and has since performed all over the world. Her work has been exhibited in major museums and galleries, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Tate Modern in London, and the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
