Carine Roitfeld Short biography
Carine Roitfeld is a French fashion editor, former fashion model, stylist, and writer. She is the former editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris, a position she held from 2001 to 2011. In 2012, she became founder and editor-in-chief of CR Fashion Book, a bi-annual print magazine headquartered in New York City.
Roitfeld was born in Paris, France. She began her career as a model at the age of 18 but soon transitioned to styling. She worked as a stylist for French Elle for 15 years, before becoming a consultant and muse to Tom Ford at Gucci and Yves Saint-Laurent. In 2001, she was appointed editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris.
Under Roitfeld's leadership, Vogue Paris became known for its edgy and provocative content. Roitfeld herself is known for her strong personal style and her influence on the fashion industry. She has been named one of the 50 best-dressed over 50 by The Guardian and one of the top 10 best-dressed by Tatler magazine.
Roitfeld left Vogue Paris in 2011 to focus on personal projects. She has since launched her magazine, CR Fashion Book, and has worked as a freelance stylist and creative director for various brands.
