Franz Beckenbauer Short biography
Franz Beckenbauer is a German football coach, manager, and former player who played as a central midfielder and sweeper. He is considered one of the greatest footballers in history and is one of nine players to have won the World Cup, the European Cup, and the Ballon d'Or. Beckenbauer has been voted European Footballer of the Year twice and was named twice in the World Team of the 20th Century. He played in more than 100 matches for West Germany and was part of the 1974 World Cup-winning team. After retiring from playing, Beckenbauer became a successful manager, leading West Germany to victory in the 1990 World Cup and Bayern Munich to victory in the 1996 UEFA Cup.
