Lewis Hamilton Short biography
Sir Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton MBE HonFREng (born 7 January 1985) is a British racing driver currently competing in Formula One, driving for Mercedes. In Formula One, Hamilton has won a joint-record seven World Drivers' Championship titles (tied with Michael Schumacher), and holds the records for the most wins (103), pole positions (104), and podium finishes (197), among others.
Hamilton was born and raised in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, England. He began karting at the age of eight and quickly rose through the ranks, winning the British Karting Championship at the age of 10. In 1998, he joined the McLaren Young Driver Programme, and he made his Formula One debut with McLaren in 2007.
Hamilton finished second in the championship in his rookie season, becoming the youngest driver in Formula One history to do so. He won his first world championship in 2008, becoming the youngest driver to win the title since Fernando Alonso in 2005.
