Oliver was born in Clavering, Essex, England, on May 27, 1975. He began his career as a pastry chef at Antonio Carluccio's Neal Street restaurant under his mentor Gennaro Contaldo. He then worked as a sous chef at The River Café before launching his own television show, The Naked Chef, in 1999. The show was a huge success and helped to make Oliver a household name.
In addition to his television shows, Oliver has also written several cookbooks, including Jamie's Kitchen, Jamie's Italy, and Jamie's America. He has also opened several restaurants, including Fifteen, Barbecoa, and Jamie's Italian.
