Riccardo Muti Short biography
Riccardo Muti (born July 28, 1941) is an Italian conductor. He is currently the Music Director Emeritus of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestra Giovanile Luigi Cherubini. Muti has previously held posts at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Philharmonia Orchestra in London, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, and the Salzburg Whitsun Festival. He is considered one of the world's leading conductors. Muti has won two Grammy Awards and received numerous other honors and awards, including the Birgit Nilsson Prize, the Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts, and the Praemium Imperiale.
